The Okpella Education Awareness Tour 2025 has officially come to a close, completing a transformative four-day journey across Afokpella, Awuyemi, Iddo, and Ogute Oke. The tour, organized by the National Association of Okpella Students (NAOS) and powered by the support of Hon. Dekeri Sunday Anamero (DANCO), was designed to reignite a culture of learning, inspiration, and empowerment across the communities of Okpella.
Day 2 – Awuyemi Tour Stop: A Day of Impact and Excellence
The second day of the tour took place in Awuyemi, and it delivered exactly what it promised—a blend of academic excellence, motivational engagement, and community spirit.
The day began with a series of powerful talks:
- Mr. Richard opened the floor with practical insights that captured the attention of students.
- Mrs. Dora Ikioda followed with an emotionally charged speech that encouraged and uplifted students, particularly the young girls in attendance.
- The Chief Inspector of Education, representing the Honorable Commissioner for Education, lent governmental presence and support to the initiative.
The highlight for many attendees was the Mathematics and English Quiz Competition, where students from various schools engaged in a fierce battle of intellect. The competition was so intense and well-participated that the moderators had to extend the rounds due to a shortage of questions—a testament to the preparedness and brilliance of the students.
The Okpella Women Association Worldwide (OWAN) also played a vital role in the success of the event, offering their full support and adding to the sense of unity and shared vision.
Day 3 – Iddo Community: Awakening Minds and Breaking Barriers
Day Three brought the tour to Iddo, where energy levels soared even higher. The day opened with remarks from the National President of NAOS, who reiterated the vision of the tour—to build a future in which every child in Okpella has the knowledge, confidence, and purpose to thrive.
Key sessions included:
- Dr. Mrs. Sado’s passionate talk on the importance of girl-child education, encouraging young women to challenge societal limitations and embrace their full potential.
- Mr. Meshach Anetokhe followed with a compelling session on discipline, consistency, and personal growth, inspiring students to take responsibility for their futures.
Students engaged actively during a vibrant Q&A session, expressing their hopes, dreams, and challenges with refreshing honesty. The day concluded with a motivational challenge and a brief quiz that reinforced learning in a fun, interactive way.
Stakeholders and community leaders were also in attendance, offering words of support and praising the initiative as timely and transformative.
Day 4 – Ogute Oke: A Grand Finale to Remember
The final day of the tour culminated at Hon. Anamero Hall in Ogute Oke, where students, educators, dignitaries, and community leaders gathered to close the chapter on what has been a historic journey.
Key Highlights:
- Mary Omokhagbor, CEO of Okpella TV and Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor on Social Media, delivered a powerful address on the role of education in transforming lives, especially for the girl-child. Her call to embrace digital tools and rise above limitations left a deep impression.
- Mr. Kenneth Amedu followed with a passionate call for equal educational opportunities, regardless of gender or background. He emphasized that education is the foundation of justice, opportunity, and sustainable growth.
The day also featured:
